In the symphony of life, love finds its rhythm and strikes a perfect chord when Geri, a resilient Black single mother, reunites with Shawn, the rock star bassist who left her heart humming and became an unexpected father to their little girl, Kathy.

As old flames reignite during a concert by Shawn's band Conflicted, they embark on a passionate journey to rekindle their romance, but when Perry slips away, Geri feels melody-less and abandoned. Determined to prove his commitment, Shawn orchestrates a pursuit to win back Geri's heart and create a symphony of everlasting love.

Will their love song be forever silenced or will Shawn find the key to Geri's heart and let the music guide them to a harmonious reunion?

Excerpt

One small town show had turned into a bunch. After the Winchester show was such a hit, we convinced the label to let us add more stops beyond the big arenas. Sure, the ticket sales were down, but the numbers were way up over what was typical, and the PR boost we got for these shows more than made up for it.

"Thank you, Springfield! You were a great crowd, as you always!" Justin shouted into the mike to the room full of clamoring fans, their cheers echoing his enthusiasm.

The rest of us played up to the crowd too, gesturing to them, riling them up and doing our part to make the end of the show especially memorable for everyone.

As the crowd dispersed, we finished our final waves to the audience and headed backstage. I looked at Justin and Perry as they headed off the stage and to their girls.

The girls were two fine young black women Justin and Perry met when we returned to the smaller city shows. The two were friends before they met the boys, and things seemed to be going well between the four of them. They'd been going nice and steady for a bit. In fact, Perry had already married his girl. It was for some immigration nonsense, I guess, but it definitely didn't seem like it was for a green card alone. Not with the way they were fucking one another with their gazes.

I was definitely jealous of them. I had been stuck in a rut for a while, wanting way more out of my life than an endless stream of anonymous women. It was disrespectful, yes, but it was the unfortunate truth.

With Justin and Perry out of the picture, I turned to Adam.

"Want to go grab some beers?" I suggested as we hit the backstage area.

He shook his head.

"Sorry man, I'm just not feeling a drink tonight. Catch you some other time instead?"

I nodded as he headed off, abandoning me to my lonesome. Truth be told, I wasn't feeling too much like it myself, but hey, I couldn't think of much else to do.

Springfield wasn't far from where Adam and I grew up together, maybe fifty miles over. I'd performed there many times before, particularly when we were rising up the charts and making our mark on the musical world.

After dropping off some of my stuff and taking care of a few small things, I headed into the bar area.

The place cleared out quickly as the venue began shutting down, which was nice. I just wanted a quiet drink and a moment to myself. Not that I had to worry about getting swarmed by our adoring fans, anyway. For one thing, people were often strangely oblivious to someone famous standing right in front of them, even if they were just on stage. And secondly, which was much more hurtful, I was the bassist.

Of course, I was vital to our group's sound; the music wouldn't be the same without me. I also contributed a lot to our songwriting, which, in my eyes, made me an equal member of the band. I reminded myself of this frequently. Yet the old cliche that the bassist was the least essential member of the band still stung.

I was still part of a world-famous rock and roll band, though, and remembering that soothed the sting. Even if I was the "lamest" member, the lamest member of Conflicted was still cooler and sexier than most women could ever hope to get.

"Just a beer, nothing special," I said to the bartender.

He looked me over and was sober enough to recognize me. Thankfully, he was a sweetheart and didn't raise any alarms. He just nodded and set a cold bottle in front of me.

I don't even know what I was doing there, honestly. I didn't even want to drink. But until the next show, my life was pretty empty. Did I just slink back to my hotel room, boot up my laptop, and play some random video game?

"Hello there. Shawn Huffman?"

The sweetest of voices tickled my ear. I turned to face who it belonged to, and suddenly, the night became much more interesting.

Long curly hair was draped around her face, framing big brown eyes and a charming grin. I liked what I was seeing, and I liked it a whole damn lot. God, those curves, that bosom, that, well...everything. She was perfect.

I wasn't the type to believe in love at first sight, but looking at her, I was reconsidering that. Just being close to this sublime creature had my cock halfway hard and growing. Usually, that didn't happen until I was well into it with a girl, but this fully clothed woman had me hotter than a dozen naked groupies would.

But, even stranger was a feeling of deja vu. I had felt this way before and had these same exact thoughts. I had gotten hard looking at this woman before. And more than that, I thought.

It couldn't be...
